If you have children you will probably have various kinds of musical instruments stored around the house. I know I do.
My kids have all learned to play various instruments over the years.
From the school recorder to flutes, from the violin and cello to guitars, and onto keyboard and electronic drums.
Some of the instruments were plugged through the computer and MIDI files arranged. But I personally have never learned a single instrument, too busy encouraging the offspring (and paying the tuition!).
Well now I have a bit more time on my hands and some of the instruments are still around the house so I decided to search for an e-book that would teach me all I needed to know.
I prefer working from books, you can do it in your own time and at your own pace for a fraction of the cost.
So I typed ‘Learn How to Play the Guitar the Easy Way’ into Google and was staggered by the results.
I’ve spent some time researching the web sites and have short-listed them down to a few.
To make it easy for you I’ve put together a simple website so they’re all in one place.
The upshot is I’ve decided to learn to play them all (yeah right!), well I really fancy the cello but I’m going to start with the guitar and progress from there.
My first consideration was: ‘what are the credentials of the teacher?'; price was really secondary compared to the cost of tuition, as in comparison, these courses and e-books are a real bargain.
I’ve even discovered a course that will help you sample, engineer and produce you own music and get it onto a disc.
The benefit of computer courses and e-books over traditional methods is the ease of the author adding multi-media content, you can actually hear what you should be playing – try that with a printed book!
Now this is different, everyone knows you need to keep ‘in time’, well how about a metronome that doesn’t just click it makes loads of other cool sounds, but the best of it is you can actually set it to speed up in any time periods you choose. This helps to gradually get faster as you play.
Don’t forget if you can read music then you’re off to a flying start but most of us have to learn it and even this is covered in ‘Music Notes for Children’ or ‘Adults’.
Now I’ve started with the guitar and there are more than several e-books and courses available.
I went for one of the most popular guitar tuition books by a well respected lady called Louise Slavnic.
Go over to my website, the link is in the ‘bio’ box and click on some of the links, it’s a great resource that’ll save you loads of time.
Choose a product and, while it’s downloading, dust off that instrument and get ready for action!
I've researched different methods of learning instruments and have put together a very simple website with links to the various pieces of software and e-books you can buy. The website covers learning guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, learning to read music and how to finally professionally produce your efforts. The website is at http://enjoylearningtoplay.googlepages.com/
